Since the birth of our daughter in 2013 I’ve had not one but two new loves in my life.
I’d always been keen on photography but had never advanced far beyond a point and shoot compact camera. With the perfect subject matter now available to me 24 hours a day I decided it was finally the right time to invest in a DSLR.
I remember excitedly picking up my new toy (the camera, not the baby), switching to auto mode and taking my first professional photos.
As you might have guessed, the reality was sadly not quite so straight forward. When I look back at the photos I took that day they weren’t terrible, but they certainly didn’t offer any improvement over my previous efforts with a compact. They were probably slightly worse in fact.
It quickly dawned on me that I was going to have to work a little harder than I’d expected to start capturing the pictures  I’d dreamed of. Over the past two years I’ve had professional tuition, read many books, watched many many tutorial videos, and most importantly taken many, many, many photos!

You’re very welcome Jackie! I did a 365 project with my first born and am about to start the same with number two when they arrive so it’s lovely to see someone else doing a similar thing for a subject they’re passionate about. Good luck and I look forward to seeing many more lovely photos 🙂
